Why Our Work Shorts Became a Rustic Ridge Best Seller
Our work shorts were one of the very first pieces we designed for Rustic Ridge, and there was a pretty simple reason behind them. I was tired of buying work shorts that didn’t last.
They were either too heavy for a Riverina summer, uncomfortable around the waist or missing the practical pockets you actually need when you’re moving all day. So we created our own.
Since then, they’ve become one of our bestselling products and a firm favourite with both men and women.
Made for hot Australian days
When the weather heats up, the last thing you want is thick, bulky clothing slowing you down.
Our work shorts are made from durable cotton twill, giving them the strength and structure needed for everyday wear while still feeling comfortable through the warmer months. The short, relaxed cut allows plenty of movement and helps keep things cooler when the temperature starts climbing.
They’re made for busy days around the farm, working in the shed, gardening, camping, running around town or wherever the day happens to take you.
A waistband that moves with you
Work rarely involves standing still for long.
There’s climbing in and out of the ute, bending, lifting, crouching and usually plenty of sitting behind the wheel too. That’s why our work shorts have an elastic waistband with an internal drawstring, giving you a secure fit without the stiffness of a traditional waistband.
They’re comfortable when you’re moving and just as comfortable when you finally stop for five minutes.
Pockets you’ll actually use
A decent pair of pockets can make or break work shorts.
Ours have two large zippered side pockets, so your phone, keys and other essentials stay safely put while you get on with the day. There are also two back pockets for extra storage without making the shorts feel bulky.

Designed for men and women
Our work shorts have a relaxed unisex fit and are made to suit real bodies and real movement.
For men, we recommend choosing your usual size. Women may prefer to size down depending on how relaxed they like their shorts to sit.
If you’re between sizes:
- Size up for a more relaxed fit.
- Stay true to size for a standard fit.
Built for more than work
Although we call them work shorts, they’re not limited to the workday.
